We are staying in Bogaz near Famagusta at the end of August.
We have two small children and also a car.
We are looking for places to go in the day-time - water parks / zoo%26#39;s / beaches. We do not mind driving into Cyprus for the day.
Can anyone make any suggestinos for us please, we appreicate your time.

Just come back from 2 weeks in Bogaz, had a fabulous time. I would highly recommend you take the family to the Karpaz for the day, probably the best beaches in the whole of Cyprus are there. If you have a car it will probably take you less than an hour and a half to drive there and it is well worth it. You can even pay to stay in accommodation on the beach for a night to watch the turtles lay their eggs on the beach. (We didn%26#39;t do this but would have loved to have done - I think going at the end of August should still be ok for seeing them).
Hopefully you will love the North, just as we did. Feel free to email me with any other questions and I will try to answer them.

Many thanks for your kind help. We will try and go to Karpaz for the day.
what time do the turtles come out please?

Hi I just wanted to let you know that you will not see turtles laying eggs but may be able to see the baby turtles hatching although it is getting towards the end of the season. You best bet is to contact the turtle protection society: 00 90 392 815 2496 or 00 90 392 815 5135 for more information.

We have just returned from near Kyrenia. We absolutely loved the area but without a car you were marooned on the complex. We would like to return to NC next year and we were thinking of Bogaz.. We will be hiring a car for part of the time but would like to stay somewhere we can walk around and visit restaurants and beach without having to get in the car all the time. Are the beaches sandy around Bogaz?
Any suggestions on where to stay would also be appreciated. We do prefer apartments or villas.

The beaches are lovely in Bogaz, there are a few to choose from and with not alot of people occuping them - I felt really safe there and our children who were able to play in the surf all day long, the sea was very shallow and water lovely and blue with white beaches (some beaches are better than others, but we managed so suss out the good ones).
I would definately recommend Bogaz for a relaxing family holiday.
There isnt loads to do around Bogaz, a few resturants and lovely beaches but we hired a car and went to the neaby villages for days out. We also went over the boarder into Cyprus Aiya Napa a couple of times visiting the water parks etc... this only took abut 30mins - 40mins to drive.
You also get the added bonus of staying in Turkey and using the Lira rather than the Euro.... Eating out was definately cheaper this side.
We stayed at a friends Villa and love Bogaz for a lovely relaxing, not too expensive holiday. Enjoy!
