Walking in the mountains

Where can I get information about walking/hiking/trekking in the mountains?

I have got a booklet produced by Cyprus Tourism called Nature Trails. The email given for there main office is cytour@cot.org.cy.

They list Walks all over Cyprus but for Troodos they give details of five walks

Artemis Trail 7 kms

Atalanti Trail (circular) 12kms - with an outstanding view of the whole island.

Persephone Trail 3kms

Kalidonia 3kms

Kampos tou Livadiou (circular) 3kms

There are lots of other walks and trails in the brochure.

I have had it for a long time so you may be able to get more information from their website or failing that the Forestry Department of Cyprus.

The Cyprus Tourist Office at www.visitcyprus.com produce %26quot;European Long distance Path E4 and other Cyprus Nature Trails%26quot;. The E4 Starts in Gibraltar but this only covers the Cyprus bit!

I also use %26quot;Rambling Around in Historic Cyprus%26quot; by Geoff Fryatt, see his web site www.ramblingaroundcyprus.info this has the advantage as it incldes maps.

A problem with the CTO book is that many trails are linear.

Weather here should enter planning as July and August are very hot and snow is possible from December to April. Good maps are very difficult to obtain because of the security situation.
