Currency

Sorry if it%26#39;s a really boring and obvious question....

Visiting Paphos soon for the first time ( Damon Apartments) and wondered what the best approach was for money.

Should I just bring Euros ? I am told that Travellers Cheques are %26#39;old-hat%26#39; now and sometimes difficult to exchange. Is a debit card better ? Are there plenty of ATM machines ?

Help please ?!

Dont know about Travellers Cheques as i havent used them for years .........

ATM machines are very accessible though in Paphos, but it all depends on what type of debit card you%26#39;ve got. Apparently Nationwide and Post Office are the best to use abroad, as majority of the others add charges to all transactions.

We take enough euros for the first day or two, then we change sterling every so often in the ciggie shops found in and around Paphos, The exchange rate in June was 1.16 commision free. The only danger of course is travelling with large amounts of cash! The apartments we use have safes in the rooms.

I use Nationwide Debit Card these days, it gets a better rate of exchange, but I always take a back up card. There are plenty of ATMs about in both Kato Paphos and Paphos Town.

Hi Does anybody know what the exchange rate is now in Cyprus?

Going 10 days

Cheers

Its not good and going down on a daily basis. You will find most of the shops offer the same rate but check a few just to make sure. If you are taking travellers cheques you won%26#39;t get quite as good a rate for those although they are obviously safer than carrying lots of cash around.
