Limassol Honeymoon in December queries

Dear Travellers,

I have booked my honeymoon for Limassol for 2 weeks. It was a very hard choice between Hawaii (USA) and Limassol in the end we went with Limassol.

Can you please share some of the details:

Query-1) How much minimum EURO required for a ten day stay to cover meal expenses (lunch and Dinner), Taxi and some night entertainment?

Query-2) How is the weather in December , my fiancee loves beaches and sunbathing would it be possible to get this kind of weather in December?

Query-3) How is the nightlife in December, being closer to new year I am expecting a busy and crowded bars and pubs please correct me if I am wrong.

Query-4) Things to do in December any suggestions would be highly appreciated.

Thanks in advance to all the helping fingers and advices.

Regards,

Ady

Hello,

1) Difficult to answer depends of the place you need to eat. For example a humburger at the mc donalds is only 1 euro, but most restaurants are also usually cheaper in comparison with european standards I consider an average meal outside the hotel to be about 10 euro for a person. Taxis are expensive to use here maybe 15 euro for 10-15 minutes ride but you can do lots of things on foot easily.

2)The weather is not for sunbathing in December but during the day you can enjoy the city, walk along seafront e.t.c. but at night it%26#39;s cold to stay outside for long time but you can pass your time inside, having a coffe at a cafe or a meal.

3)Good nightlife, lots of lights, christmas decoration at the streets and shops, too busy roads and crowded bars and pubs.

4)I %26#39;m a local and not expert in this, but I think it%26#39;s a good idea to visit the old city center, the castle, the shops around the center, the small zoo and also have a good walk along the beach. There are also some ancient sites (if you are interested in such things) outside the city or you can also visit Troodos if it is snowed to enjoy the snow.

Thanks very very much for a detailed reply and helping me.

So crux is meals(lunch and breakfast) may be 20+20 = 40 Euro per day for 2 persons. Taxi would be like 20-30 euro per day if we want to use.

Also wuith your reply there seems to eb alot of nightlife. Any dress code we have in limasol bars? or anything and everything is allowed?

Also seems beaches would eb empty and we should not think of sunbathing and all.:(

No real dress code. You can go almost anywhere wearing anything you like but most people wear %26#39;good%26#39; I can say clothes if that matters.

Now for the weather as I understand you are going to come here at the end of the year and it will be a surprise for the weather to be warm enough for sunbathing (average temperature is usually 15C). However if the weather is sunny we may see, some tourists from the cold northern countries to enjoy the sun.

Something I have to mention is that the nightlife is not like the summer period but still the roads are crowded with the locals as Limassol is the biggest coastal city in Cyprus. So most shops remain open and people use to go out these days to enjoy their Christmas holidays. So it%26#39;s better stay at a hotel close to restaurants and cafes and avoid the area eastern of amathus ruins(good posh area but you will need taxi every day).

Would agree we have just returned from 14 nights in the Four Seasons in Limassol and found taxis very expensive. We paid anything from 11 Euros (in the day) and 20 Euros at night from the Four Seasons Hotel to the old town. Going in the other direction to Terra Mare restaurant it was between 7 Euros and 10 Euros. You can keep your costs down by catching the number 30 bus which runs along the road every 15 minutes in the day and every 25 minutes in the evening up until 11 pm. You can find basic restaurants fairly inexpensive but the restaurants we chose to eat in were very expensive i.e. we usually ended up paying 45 Euros for two at the lower end of the scale and 130 Euros at the top end of the scale.

We have been to Limassol in December and there is always plenty of activity in the hotels in the evening. There are now some very nice restaurants up in the old town. We found the weather to be very pleasant in the middle of the day and did sit out in the sun but the days are short and you do need a coat or jacket in the evenings. We do come from a cold climate though!

Hi there

We recently spent a lovely Sunday on a day cruise on a 71%26#39; motor cruise moored in Limassol. It was great a 45 minute cruise to Governor%26#39;s beach and then we moored in very shallow waters to allow us to swim. Then we were served with a wonderful three course buffet meal followed by a sail back and it was sunset - great. Our family stayed at Cosmos Lodge, Limassol and were very pleased. See trip advisor comments. For the cruise you will see good pictures on the website greatshapeholidays.com.

Happy honeymoon, Anthea
