Hi - thinking of going to Kyrenia for a week mid-January. Can%26#39;t find much information on what the weather will be like or what clothes to take though!!! Would appreciate any advice. Also, thinking of staying at the Malpas Hotel - very good offer, but the forums seem to suggest that Kyrenia is a bit %26quot;scruffy%26quot;!! Is the centre a good place to stay, or would someone suggest another area? Am going cross-eyed now looking at the reviews for various hotels!! Thanks in advance!!!

Hi There weather in January can be a bit cool especially at night take some warm stuff. Daytime a bit like our summers although it has been known to snow! Just don%26#39;t go expecting a tan.
We love Kyrenia yes parts of it can appear scruffy but so can anywhere else the beaches are not too good so go to the beaches reccommended in the books if weather ok there are some lovely ones but best hiring a car some of the hotels along the coast roads have some nice beaches but expect to pay for the beds.
Ship Inn looks a nice place to stay about 5 mins from Kyrenia we called in for a drink, also Riviera beach bungalows in Karaoglanoglu (do not pronounce the g%26#39;s) about 10 mins from Kyrenia looks ok ,lovely beach good for snorkelling and pool.

Cold and damp at night in January. Maybe sunny during the day but definitely not sunbathing weather. Personally, I would stay in the centre as there is plenty to see and do without having a car. I have stayed at the Dome hotel which is a short stroll to the harbour. Spacious rooms and good food although it does tend to cater for an older age group. If budget is not an issue have a look at the Rocks, the Colony and the Savoy Ottoman Palace. All 5* in the centre of Kyrenia.
