hi. We are plannning to visit mount olympus during our visit to Cyprus later this week. We have a 1.5 liter nissan note at our disposal. Had the follwoing questions and would appreciate any help/advise i can get
1) How much time would it take to reach the top from the plains(limassol/phafos)
2) should we drive to mt. olympus from platres or on our way back from kyykos monastery
3) Is the road to the top suitable for a small car like nissan note
4) What is best time to get to the top- morning/afternoon -in terms of views etc
5) Is it safe to drive down after sunset or advisable to leave before sunset?

The easiest way is from Limassol(Lemesos on road signs) on the B8 a good quality road all the way (B roads are a good standard in nearly all cases).
Platres is just off the B8 on the way up and Kikkos is mainly approached from Troodos so it probaly makes no difference.
My Honda Jazz has no problems as the roads are good.
Morning may be better as clouds can build up during the day and may well be lower than you, but they do not form every day.
No problems about driving at night, tomorrow I will be driving up Troodos around midnight.
Here the A roads are Motorway, B main roads, never seen C or D roads but E are usually good but F vary from good to gravel.

Would definitely recommend travelling early, we left it until th eafternoon, 28 degrees hot and sunny in paphos/limassol - got up to Platres and it was raining and very, very black... oh and 18 degrees - you might need a jumper!

Yes the weather up in the mountains is often very different from that down on the coast. Although at the moment I would welcome a bit of rain and cold!
I%26#39;ve driven up there loads of times in a little Nissan March and back down in the dark too. No problem.
