I would suggest that you should stay in Kyrenia on your first visit. From there you can travel to Nicosia and Famagusta and if you hire a car you are in a good position to go east or west. Regards accommodation, take a look at Direct Traveller website. They have an online brochure which shows in detail many of the hotels in the area. This will give some idea of what is available. Also check the reviews on trip adviser. Be aware that it gets very hot in July and August.
