We are heading off to a villa in/near Pomos shortly(not entirely sure of exact location - Villa Aquamarine if anyone knows it?). I know Pomos is meant to be quiet but can anyone tell me if there are many shops (supermarkets) or restaurants there? We will have a car so can get out and about but really are planning to spend most of our time in the local area (ie lazing around the villa pool!).
If anyone has any recommendations for must see sightseeing I%26#39;d be very interested to hear your views.
Thanks!

We have stayed in Latchi area about 15km from Pomos but unfortunately not visited Pomos. Here I can confirm you there were some shops and nice beaches and fish taverns. I also have found a website about Pomos that hope to help you:
http://www.pomos.org.cy/english/index.htm

The Sea Caves restaurant which overlooks the little harbour at Pomos is very popular - weekends lots of locals at lunchtime. Am sure that there are minimarkets on the road from Polis to Pomos where you can buy essentials- petrol stations often sell milke, drinks etc. Polis has large supermarket plus smaller shops and a little market shop selling local produce (look for elderly chaps sitting outside putting the world to rights!!). Good tourist info office in Polis too.
WE just enjoy swimming and walking but we also enjoy driving the quiet roads through to Pomos and , in the other direction, through Latchi, up to Neo Choria etc.

The Sea Caves restaurant is run by Bulgarians - their menu is mostly %26quot;snacks%26quot; with a few expensive fish offerings. Alot of the fish served in restaurants is frozen or farmed since there is not much fish in the Med anymore. The only other restaurant is Kanali which is by the port.
If you don%26#39;t want to go all the way into Polis, Argaka has more choices for local taverns, they are dotted all along the main road from Ragaka to Polis, there is also an Irish pub there (although nothing Irish about it, its a nice place to go in the evening).
A nice trip is to take the road from Pomos into the Paphos forest. Also a visit to Aphrodites Baths is very worthwhile since the scenery and beach below are lovely. The restaurant at Aphrodites Beach is very good, esp their home-made dolmades. Karouzis in Polis serve excellent octopus too (amongst other things).

Karouzis is our favourite taverna in Polis. Open evenings only- follow signs for hospital or camp site and its just a few hundred metres outside of main town
square, below Bougainvillea Apartments.

I%26#39;m was planning on going to this villa next year. Looks great in the brochure but I%26#39;m not sure about Cyprus, the pictures I%26#39;ve seen in that area make it look quite rugged rather than green and pretty? I%26#39;m after a quiet area with some nice scenery, coastal or country.

Hi M,
We returned fom holiday last week and I can confirm that this is a VERY quiet area! The villa itself is lovely but there are no shops within walking distance and the only restaurant (10 minutes away) was not to our taste (very simple food, plastic chairs %26amp; tables).
There is a shingle beach (Paradise beach) within 5 minutes walk of the villa. It%26#39;s a rugged area and there isn%26#39;t much green in the area but it was at the end of a long hot summer!
I will put a more detailed review of the villa itself on the Meon Villas website.

Thanks for that I%26#39;ll look out for your review!
