Hello all,
Just back from Cyprus - bit of useful advice. When checking in your luggage at Larnaca airport, avoid the blonde girl with Euro Cypria.
Not only is she twice as slow as the other staff, but she is also a stickler for excess weight. We noticed that the other two members of staff were allowing bags up to 7kg over weight with no problems, but she wanted 75 euros for the 5kg our bags were over (15euros per kg).
And so ensued much frantic opening of cases and re-distributing items into hand luggage, dashing to other %26quot;weighbridges%26quot; to see if we%26#39;d brought it below 20kg each - all the time observing bags of 25kg+ going through smoothly with the other staff.
We eventually had to %26quot;jettison%26quot; some gifts we were bringing back for friends and family.
She also allocated seats incorrectly, giving my wife and I aisle seats while later passengers got seats together (again from the other 2 staff).
To add to the latter problem a woman was occupying my seat and refused to move, leaving my wife to deal with her terrible fear of taking off/landing on her own.
So - in summary - either keep your luggage weight to 20kg each or less, or avoid the blonde girl.
And thanks Eurocypria for bringing back all the lovely stress that Cyprus had taken off my shoulders over the last 2 weeks. Really appreciated.

How I sympathise. I got back last night from Cyprus. Luggage allowance going out with Eurocypria we were told it was 20k but in actual fact when we got to Manchester we were told it was 25k (hence my lack of shoes!) and two lots of hand luggage which weren%26#39;t weighed. However talking to other travellers they had their hand luggage weighed and if it was over 5k had to pay excess even though their hold luggage was under weight!! I%26#39;m back to Cyprus Airlines next year - no hassle although I have to say outward journey from Manchester was good. Checking in at Larnca on way back - awful - talk about slow. Hopefully the new terminal will eliminate the enormous queues and hopefully the sullen faces of the check in operators.

Well, I don%26#39;t know if you had been reading any local newapapers while on the island but Eurocypria is in deep financial crisis and guess who is paying for it?!! It seems they are trying as hard as they can to collect every single penny they can.
Indeed Kath, Larnaca checking in during Wednesdays and even Sundays is a nightmare- better avoid these flights if possible.
