Mistake??

I have just returned from two brilliant weeks in Protaras and in my haste have rebooked accommodation only in Protaras for the two weeks commencing 23rd April 2010. I have now realised that the main summer schedule for Olympic holidays does not start until the 1st May and am wondering if I have made a mistake and whether the resort will be too quiet. I have not yet booked a flight so I may be able to change the dates if necessary. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks

Most restaurants etc start to open last week in April but it will be very quiet. Although April is a lovely month it is a little too early for guaranteed weather. The mornings and evenings are still particularly cool. If it is sunbathing weather you are looking for then it is a bit too early, if you want to get out and about around Cyprus then it is an ideal month. The sea and pools will also still be cold (pools especially). I find mid May onwards the weather is more settled.

We have been to Protaras twice at this time of year and although most places are open it%26#39;s very quiet best time of year to get on the beach but as previously said the water is very cold.

The weather was great during the day very warm but the evening quite chilly needed to cover up arms and legs!!

I wouldn%26#39;t hesitate in going again this time of year.

Tourist numbers are down all over Cyprus this year. I was in Protaras in September and it was deserted. Quite a few aparthotels had either not opened at all or had closed down already.
