I go to Paphos every year and have just returned and am so shocked at the increase in prices ! Food and drink from the shops has increased by 20% and as for cafe%26#39;s and restaurants then I was shocked. I know Paphos really well and know where you will get ripped off but even still I coudn%26#39;t avoid the huge increase in prices. Has anyone else noticed this ? It takes 5hrs to fly there, double the price of flights to Spain and is so much more expensive than the 2 spanish costa holidays I had earlier this year, They are ruining the tourist trade.

This time last year the British Tourist was getting 1.20 Euro to the British Pound. This year it has dropped to 1.07 euro. Therefore the British exchange rate is to blame because you are not getting as much for your money.
I live here and when I walk around I find that most restaurants and bars are offering good value except for the odd one or two. Most restaurants now do set menus which are excellent value.
A month ago the exchange rate was up to 1.15 euro - just an unfortunate time for you to come on holiday. I have been told that Cyprus is still not as expensive as France, Spain or Italy.

I found Cyprus much more expensive than Italy this year. Also it varies so much from one restaurant/bar to another it can%26#39;t all be the Euro. I hope tourists don%26#39;t vote with their feet it would be such a pity.

We too found it a lot more expensive this year, and although had been warned about prices etc, were quite shocked at how much it did cost in some Restaurants we%26#39;ve been going in for years! We always stay B%26amp;B but our Hotel was doing an excellent offer on 4 or more nights evening meals, no wonder the Restaurants were always busy! I know a lot of countries in the Eurozone are a lot more expensive to us Brits this year, but from what I%26#39;ve heard Cyprus is one of the most expensive.

Strangely I really did not find it too bad in Pernera this October, slightly up on May but that was because of the awful exchange rate. Most restaurants on the eastern side of the island are trying their best with set menus but with hotels now offering all inclusive deals they are finding it a hard struggle.
I just wish something could be done to reduce the price of independent flights to Cyprus, particularly for families with children over the age of 2 who have to pay full fare. No joke if you%26#39;ve got air fares of £1,000 plus for a family of four before you even start on your holiday expense. I believe that is going to be one of the main reasons families will either opt for all inclusive, which won%26#39;t help Cyprus businesses, or turn their back on Cyprus completely.
