Restaurants near Elias Beach Hotel

Can anybody give any information on restaurants close to the Elias Beach Hotel.

I%26#39;m getting married at the hotel in September, but as the wedding party is small we%26#39;d like to have the reception at a nearby restaurant.

Any info you can offer would be great

Try the Famagusta Yacht Club. Inside or out, Cypriot or European. You should get a good deal on a block booking. All food is cooked fresh, frequented mostly by Cypriots.

Right across Elias are a Russian restaurant(no idea of the prices), Chesters (irish pub with a good variety of finger food), Mauley Malones(irish pub but mostly dishes).

Not sure if there is Cyprus couzine nearby since most decent Cyprus restaurants are not in the tourist area. Most restaurants in tourist area will serve frozen as fresh and are a bit expensive considering you are eating frozen.

Now if you make the distance to where the the old harbour was, there is the AKTEON restaurant which serves fresh and Karmi which is also nice and its value-for-money there.

Also when you head towards the city from Elias Hotel, just after you pass the ancient city of Amathounta there is a small fish tavern on your left. If you reached Pasalimani then you went about 100-200 metres too far. Great food and decent prices. Also Anwtera tavern next to the central post office and police station has nice food at a little higher price, but still value-for-money.

A great fish restaurant is Kavourotrype at Zakaki(at the lady%26#39;s mile traffic lights head to the beach and you%26#39;ll find it on your right)

Food there is excellent and always fresh, BUT its very expensive. Two weeks ago I payed 350 euros for 6 persons.

And sorry but I just read you are looking for a restaurant for the reception. Anyway I left the information above for others to read. Let me know how many people are going to be at the reception and we can find somewhere nice with good prices.

Hi,

Many thanks for your reply... there are a few possibilities there...

The wedding party is fairly small... final numbers are yet to be confirmed, but it%26#39;s likely to be around 12 - 14 adults and 3 children... if it comes to it we do still have to option of using the hotel, but I%26#39;d really like to find somewhere outside.

Thanks again!

The Syrian club is very good also, Syrian Meze. Not sure about the Karmi anymore, it was good before the new owners came.

You will enjoy Santana Restaurant which is accross the road from the Elias Beach traffic lights, on the way-up towards the motorway. This is run by a charming couple, Claudia and Modestos, who are the people behind the words %26quot;hospitality%26quot;, they are so welcoming. It%26#39;s like going to their home when you go to eat there. The menu is quite extensive including both local specialities as well as juicy steaks and fresh seafood is always available. I can highly recommend their garlic prawns! They do pride themselves on how fresh their food really is and in fact, as a lot of their custom comes from repeat visitors, it%26#39;s a fairly good sign that it%26#39;s true. You can contact them, and they will be happy to cater for your wedding party needs and more. Tel + Fax +357 25 331417

Immediately opposite the hotel is a very good Italian restaurant which would be excellent for small numbers. Thing is are we dealing with small numbers being under 20, or a small Cypriot one which would be about 100!!! I will look up the name for you and come back on site tomorrow with it. There is another good restaurant about 400 yards away. The Famagusta would need transport where as these two are exactly where you wanted them.

As I always recommend get out of the tourist area and you will save 20% or upwards. As a previous poster commented the food in this area is not always fresh and genrally comes from the local cash%26amp;carry.

I met some British friends in the tourist area the other day, we ate at a well known steak house, nasty food frozen and it worked out at £23 per head with no drinks. If you find out where Cypriots eat you will not go wrong.

I would suggest to the people who take part in the forum to speak about their real experiences and not about their opinions from comments or third parties%26#39; views. I find it very wrong to speak in general and say that all restaurants in the area serve frozen food from their nearest cash %26amp; carry when, most probably you have not experienced dining in all these places.

Regarding the Famagusta Nautical Club %26#39;reasonable prices%26#39;, my daughter and I had 2 Greek salads and a bottle of sparking mineral water last summer and we had a bill of approximately 27 euros. Now tell me if that is cheap!

I never genralise, I live here. I base all my comments on what I see, eat, drink and where I socialise. Alot of the places in the area do rely on frozen food, swordfish is hard to get hold of in January and good steaks are imported either chilled or frozen, salmon is not farmed or sourced in Cyprus.

As for the Famagusta we had Meze there the other night, bought for us by an English couple, price for one meze 12 Euro. Good price I thought.

As a footnote, I have not eaten in every establishment in Limassol but I have tried most, I rarely recommend any as there is always someone who will have had a bad experience, or a different point of view.
