What days out do you recommend?

Hi

I%26#39;m off to Protaras in September and would quite like to see Famagusta. What%26#39;s the best trip to take and are there other %26quot;must do%26#39;s%26quot; on the trip?

Many thanks

The bug red bus tour (normally) takes you along the green line toward famagusta and is very very informative and entertaining... well worth the money... However I believe since we went back in 2008 they have now added another trip(possibly a request trip) that crosses over to the other side - http://www.redbuscyprus.com/

Jeep Safari up the Troodos mountain, more off the beaten track information, sights and scenery...

Most boat trips if you like a bit of relaxing take a gentle cruise along the coast, (usually towards Famagusta and down towards Ayia Napa... with swimming, diving, food etc thrown in..)..

I%26#39;d definately say give one of them a go...

I agree with AskCy - those three trips are a must to do. In May the Red Bus group were planning to do a one day a week full day trip to Famagusta. Hopefully this will be in place when I go back end September if its not already. Check out their web site. Another interesting place to visit is the last house in Derynia which overlooks the UN no mans land. Very informative. If you want to spend a day on a lovely beach head for Konnos Bay, midway between Protaras %26amp; Ayia Napa (not weekends though as it gets very busy then) Ayia Napa harbour area is also very nice.

When my husband and I stayed in Pernera in september, we got the %26#39;glass bottom boat%26#39; to famagusta and then to cavo greco. It cost something stupid like 10/12 euros each and was possibly the best spend for the whole trip. it leaves from protaras and takes you up to the markers at famagusta, so you can see the beach at famagusta, with someone on the boat telling you the history etc, then down to the absolutely GORGEOUS cavo greco, where the waters are turqoise blue and when you go swimming grab some goggles, as there are beautiful bright blue fish swimming around too! it truly was a wonderful trip!

relaxing, they sold a bit of food and drink, nothing special but for the 3 or more hours you are on the boat, it is more than worth the price!!!

Hope you have a fabby time!!!

Hi, I just got back from Pernera and I did the underseawalking ! ! ! it was brill and at 53 euro well worth it {info@underseawalkers.com or underseawalkers.com} they operate in Protaras and on the main strip they have a wioe screen t.v. to advertise the experience, TRY IT.......

Also %26#39;the red bus%26#39; well worth the time as Dave our courier was very informative and made the trip very enjoyable......any boat trips that go to Cape Greko..to swim in the %26#39;Blue Lagoon%26#39; fantastic.....

Also all the local busses are good value E1.50 single for however far you go!

just go, do everything and really enjoy Cyprus

p.s.

The new walkway from Protaras to Pernera is a great way to walk the coast and pass lovely little bays on the way.........

enjoy yourself !

just got back yesterday and red bus now do a new trip actually into famagusta you actually go through the un zone and into turkish cyprus- you need a passport and you go into walled city and then to the beach at varoosha to see all the ghost town- it was brilliant- any more questions i will be happy to answer !!

Thanks for that. Definitely on my list of %26quot;to dos%26quot; in October. The guys who have set up this business are great and deserve every success.

Thought the %26quot;glass bottom boat%26quot; was a bit of a curve ball. Two 1ftx1ft squares that I%26#39;m sure some folk wouldnt even find. Esp since one of them was too algaed up to see through clearly. OK trip though otherwise and the cape greco swimming was great. The submarine boat trip looked better value with hindsight Agree the redbus was well worth the money,.

Parasailing was brilliant too if you like your watersports

I recommend %26#39;undersea walking%26#39; in protaras {check them out on the internet.........The Big Red Bus, I was there in Aug and they do a trip over the border into Famagusta on Thursday%26#39;s...........the Yellow boat trip from Golden Coast Harbour in Pernera.....Swim in the %26#39;Blue Lagoon%26#39; fantastic turquoise water!

Hope you try some of these. Enjoy yourself

Big Red Bus tour - update

We went on it again and its still fantastic, in fact even more information than last time we went.

I must point out that you might want to book in advance as we just managed to get on and the next group was turned away as they were full (they had been almost constantly full for a good few weeks). It would be a shame to miss it if you thought we%26#39;ll go on such a day and then couldn%26#39;t get on !

Also the other trip they do needs booking a good few days in advance so they can get all the passport details sorted out before hand. It also only goes on Thursdays (if memory serves) so make your plans ahead for that one and give them a ring or hang around where the bus stops and get leaflets/speak to them well in advance...

We have just arrived home from Ayia Triada, near Kapparis and loved the new boat trip from Ayia Napa harbour; its called the Galaxy 2000 very futuristic looking only takes 25 or so people and its very very fast!!! It took us along the coast to Konnos bay and we had free drinks on board and then a dip in the sea they fed the fish and gave you snokels to look through; then we watched through the large circular glass bottom of the boat for a while but the excitement was when it took off out to sea for about 3 miles hopefully to see dolphins (if you were really luckly) it went so fast you got a free shower it was wonderful even if we didnt see any dolphins and would recommend it cost 40 euros for 2 1/2 hours but worth every penny if you like the speed thrills.
