I%26#39;m looking to take my disabled parents away to Cyprus. Anyone got any suggestions on what are the flatter areas. I need hotels near (if not on the beach) - the beach needs to be sandy and flat into the sea, a reasonably small/medium resort that they can walk around with lots of taverna%26#39;s/bars?
We went to Alykansas in Zante this year, which was great, but I want to take them somewhere else.
Any suggestions welcome.
Regards.

Would try Protaras. Took my daughter who is in a wheelchair and it suited us fine. Resort main strip is flat and the pavements wide. Beach is only 50-100 yards away from the main strip although it is down a slite incline but it is manageable
Most restaurants have disabled access.
Hope this helps Billy

Protaras and now Pernera are quite accessible and I%26#39;ve seen quite a few wheelchair users going around there ! Many hotels/shops/bars etc have ramp access and tend not to have steps and such to climb once inside. The pavements are generally good (although the odd bits might have a gap where a tree grows or a car parked on it- in Pernera its not as busy as Protaras with traffic so you can easily walk along the road edge as most people do !). The beach area has a new coastal path from Pernera to Protaras which is completely flat, wide and beautiful so a stroll along it is wonderful ! (have a look at the path in my album from april this year, its now finished and lit up at night - www.facebook.com/album.php… )
you can see the general paving etc in these shots (in Pernera) -
