Open top red bus trip, Protaras

Has anyone been on the open top red bus trip which has started up in Protaras this year? Would be grateful for any feedback, pick up tops, price %26amp; itinary.

Yes we went on the Red Bus tour 2 weeks ago. Picks up in Pernera and Protaras for a 2+ hour trip along the coast and inland to the villages close along the border. The trip was very informative, the scenery was brilliant and we would recommend it to anyone interested in the %26quot;real Cyprus%26quot;. Some fellow travellers on the way to the airport told us their Hoteliers had not recommended the tour because %26quot;it was just about selling property%26quot; - this is completely untrue. Take the trip - it%26#39;s worth it

Having just returned from Protaras we were disappointed in being turned away after joining the queue for the %26quot;red tour bus%26quot;. We tried in vain to call the number on the advertising brochure to prebook but to no avail..so we took a chance and waited at a bus stop on the strip showing the pick up point. While waiting a rep wearing a red T shirt appeared just before the arrival of the red bus on asking could we join the trip she said soory booked today have you phoned to book....her excuse then was the driver cant answer his phone so there obviously is noone else to take the calls. Cost for the trip is 18euros per person....hope you have better luck!

None the less we had a lovely holiday at the Andreotis apartments even though we missed the %26quot;red bus%26quot; trip....Have a lovely time.

We went on the red bus trip on Sunday Oct.12, and it was 18 euros well spent. The trip takes 2 and a half hours, and visits places you may not see, even if you hire a car, as well as the main resorts.

Alan was our guide, and he made the trip very, very interesting, with history, up to date news, and a lot of humour.

Wherever the idea of the trip being a property selling venture came from I don%26#39;t know. It might make you wish you lived there when Alan tells you the cost of Community charges, cat tax and MOT etc., but the trip is certainly nothing to do with property sales.

We were staying at the Penera Beach Hotel, and found the hotel to be very good value for money too.

Thanks for your replies. I was in Pernera from 1st October to 15th so did manage to do the trip. I personally think it is a very enterprising idea and thoroughly enjoyed it and would highly recommend it. The receptionist at our apartments booked it for us and I believe all hotels can do this for you. At no time is it a property selling exercise. The two chaps who run it are humorous and very informative and deserve every success.

Hi All.

There will be 3 buses this coming Summer, with plans to do trips from Limassol in the winter and also Nicosia. Having listened to customer feedback there will be Binoculars to use during the trip.

Regards

Carl.

That%26#39;s good news. Wonder if they could get %26quot;permission%26quot; to take the bus over the green line to Famagusta. I really do think this is such an enterprising idea and the chaps who run it deserve every success.

Hi Kath.

I was speaking to Dave the owner yesterday he%26#39;s over in the UK at the moment, I%26#39;m sure he did say about including Famagusta.

Regards

Carl.

That would be absolutely great if they could include a Famagusta trip - its the only way I will get my other half to cross the green line! Shall book the trip as soon as I arrive at end of May.

http://www.redbuscyprus.com/ mentions Famagusta city, but I don%26#39;t think they can do all that in two and a half hours. There%26#39;s a map of the route too, which doesn%26#39;t seem to include a visit across the green line.

Regardless, we will also try them out on our next visit.

We have just returned from Protaras and whilst there we did the %26#39;red bus tour%26#39;. We thoroughly enjoyed it and thought it was money well spent. It is now 15 euros per person. The guys who run it.. Dave and Dave are very quenuine people. They have spent a lot of time and effort setting up this business enterprise. The trip is very informative and takes you through the villages and along the %26#39;green line%26#39;.

It is very popular, so you need to book up early.
