driving to kaledonia waterfalls

hi, I would like to know if it is possible to drive to kaledonia waterfalls in a small family car. I have a 18 month son with me and im not sure if i will be able to do the walk from platres as most websites/blogs seem to suggest.

Any ideas/advise would be much appreciated.

Hi -pretty sure you can drive close to the top. We %26#39;staggered%26#39; up from Platres and found some quite smartly dress folks at the top. Turned out they were on a organised trip and had come %26#39;the easy route%26#39; ?? Maybe someone can enlighten you further. We were not overly impressed, mainly because the dry spell meant not much of waterfall. The trout farm was Ok though.

The waterfalls are about 1-2km walk from the main road. You can go by you car at the beggining of the natural trail and after that you have to walk for about twenty minutes in the forest along a very small river.

@ChrissieH - Many thanks for ur feedback. Were u there recently? I am a bit concerned after reading ur comments on the lack of water at the falls. The pictures on the net were quite immpressive. In fact we were planning other waterfalls such as Millomeri and Chantara. Any ideas?

@p333 - The 1-2 km u mention is it a climb? how good is the trail? Like i said i have an 18 month old son with me and an up and down climb to the top maybe a challenge.

No - it was not recently - at least 5 years ago -apologies, should have made that clear ! We loved the whole area around Platres, it was very warm that year in early October and it was lovely to feel a bit cooler up there and do some walking.

no worries chrissie. I did some searching after ur post and was glad to find that cyprus has received its highest rainfall in september this year. So hopefully there should be plenty of water around.

I come from a very dry part of the world so the thought of having lush green valleys and gushing waterfalls really exicting.

Sure you will enjoy the area - seems strange to think they have snow and have skiing up there in winter !!

The trail is in good condition not dangerous- though little exhausting. I believe you are going to have great fun doing the trail really. Just do it.

Thanks P333. I think im going to give it a go and see how it goes.
