The weather this year seems to be going slightly off plan for a start, so recent history is only a rough guide !

We went in April to Pernera (just down the road from Protaras) this year which decent enough (April 10th to 15th) We did see rain and wind, but still managed to get a tan and burnt my nose! When it did rain it was only short and wasn%26#39;t really worth running for cover (I work outside a lot so it doesn%26#39;t bother me as much as others). I was in shorts and t-shirt and I%26#39;d say it was about 20-25°C when the sun was out (which was most of the time) and when it clouded over and rained it dropped to 15-20... It was very pleasant but probably not swimming in the sea/pool type hot...

In answer to the other question... no a lot of the places will be closed ! The resort Protaras and Pernera tend to gear up to full speed for the middle of May so until then a lot of the places aren%26#39;t open (including hotels ! - something I%26#39;d never thought about with normally going in August when everything is in full swing)

This also means a lot of the trips and such won%26#39;t be running either !

To top it off, when you are one of the few bars/restaurants open there isn%26#39;t much reason for price wars so you won%26#39;t see much of the %26quot;2 for 1%26quot;, %26quot;happy hour - Keo €2%26quot; etc going on. You might also find that its not worth them getting barrels in out of season as there is isn%26#39;t anywhere near as much trade going on, so you could be on bottles of beer (big bottle might be €4 etc)....

all that said... we had a great break and I%26#39;d do it again in a breath ... its a different Cyprus to when we normally go.. its more laid back.. its quiter and even smells different (as the flowers are out..) You have to change what you might do while there some what.. you know say in August its scorching and you will do things like Waterpark, sunbathing on beach, playing in the pool etc.. Where in April you might find yourself walking along the coast, checking out the shops, watching the out of season work going on (painting hotels that are closed, building and rebuilding things.. hire a car and take a look at other scenic spots...)...

Here are my photos from April this year.. so its going to be similar to that...

Bars and Restaurants in Pernera (all of interest not just the ones that were open)

The New Coastal path being finished off - its now completed (goes from Pernera to Protaras)

most of the building work that was going on in Pernera (you don%26#39;t really notice any noise or anything - in fact we%26#39;ve been going since 2004 and there has always been building work going on somewhere but its never bothered us.

Went to Cyprus a couple of years ago in march. lovely and hot every day from 11 til 3 was able to sunbathe but water was too cold to swim, it was dark by 5 and the nights were freezing, we had to wear coats.

Hope this helps.
