can anyone advise me on getting to see the ghost town of famagusta by bus or taxi and if so how much will it cost me. i dont want to spend all day on the red bus tour.

I would think the red bus tour would be the cheapest option - certainly I%26#39;m going to take it. I don%26#39;t think you spend all day on the bus, they take you to Famagusta and then you have a few hours to yourself to eat, swim or laze about and you will get a good commentary. From memory last year I think if you take a taxi it will cost approx 50 euros (not sure if that is one way) You can always agree a price at any taxi rank.

If memory serves the Famagusta trip was €20 and on thursdays, needs booking in advance as they have to sort out passports etc...

Just got back, didnt do red bus but was told thurdays it goes straight to famagusta. Book early as we tried booking on the monday for thursday and there were no seats.
Instead we booked trip with rep Kyrenia and Famagusta. This was worst trip I have ever been on. 9 hour day 6 of which were on a coach. Only drove by %26#39;ghost town%26#39; and saw 2 bombed out hotels. Saw alot more and learnt alot more a couple of years ago from the view point at paralimni.
