Just got back from Paphos. Had a great time other than a terrible trip to Adonis Baths Waterfall, what a rip-off.
The journey to the place was lethal. We drove down a road which claimed to be suitable for all vehicles, it wasn%26#39;t. It went on and on down a rubble track with steep, unfenced drops down the side of the valley.
We paid 18 CYP for entry for 4 people, expecting lovely pools and small waterfalls to swim in. It was actually one small pool of dirty bug filled water with a couple of ropes hanging from trees to climb and swing into the water and a very small trickle of a waterfall. We didn%26#39;t even get in the water and left after about 5 minutes.
The visitors book is full of really bad comments and unbelievably, a few good ones. Shame you don%26#39;t see the visitor%26#39;s book until after you have paid to get in.

We tried to drive to adonis baths and gave up once we reached the dam your right the road was lethal!!!!

Hi - I would agree about the road. It was about as hair-raising as it gets.
My husband and son enjoyed the baths though. I just sat and watched them but they said the water was freezing. I have got some lovely video footage from last year of them climbing onto the rock behind the waterfall and jumping in. The waterfall was quite forceful then too.
Personally, I would say that it isn%26#39;t worth making a special trip to see the baths but if you are passing and are at a loose end on a hot day you can get some nice photos.
Incidentally, I take it you haven%26#39;t visited the Baths of Aphrodite out Latchi way. Now they really are disappointing.

thanks for this forum. my wife %26amp; i were planning to visit here next year. also yes the baths of aphrodite are poor, mother shiptons cave at knaresbourgh in yorkshire are much better %26amp; that%26#39;s saying something !

Lol! Mother Shipton%26#39;s cave at Knaresborough sounds a bit like St Kevin%26#39;s Stump on Craggy Island.

Hiya,
We have been to the Adonis Waterfalls and I have to agree with most of the comments.
The road is a dirt track, it was passable in our Corsa we hired with great care. We found the journey part of the adventure.
The pool was %26quot;dirty colour%26quot; - but that will be due to the turbulence of the waterrfalls churning the silt.
We swam in it and during July - it was most refreshing in the noon days sun. The pool is also shaded by the surrounding natural vegetation.
There are insects around - but hey, the falls are natural - Cyprus is a hot country!
Aphrodite%26#39;s Baths too, are a little disappointing but you visit for the culture %26amp; history.
I would recommend to take your snorkling gear next time and swim in the crystal clear waters next to the Baths.
It is relatively safe %26amp; shallow and not overcrowed.
The beach here is stoney and this creates the clear waters as there is little sand to disturb the visibility.
Cyprus, like most places in the world, offers different strokes for different folks!!!
I think it is a good trip to both Adonis Waterfalls %26amp; Aphropdite%26#39;s Baths but bear in mind what they are, just natural phenonomen, not artificial, commercialised attractions.
This though, is just my opinion.
Regards
Stewart

For me, the disappointment comes from the fact that they TRY to turn these features into commercial attractions and do it so so badly.

hi,sorry to gatecrash your warning but i have one too,i did not know where to post it so i thought i would be cheeky and jump in here.if you smoke be very careful when buying ciggies in cyprus.we bought 10 thousand lambert%26amp;butlers in paphos which all turned out to be fakes.we dont smoke, they were for family thats why we did not know till we got back.the only tip i can give you is they were marked up as l and b%26#39;s not lambert%26amp;butlers ok.shame it spoilt a other wise lovely holiday (except for time share posing as scratch card sellers).sorry to barge in once again but i thought people should be warned, many thanks bye. ps new forum member so hope i have not put my big foot in it. cheers.

Why don%26#39;t you post your warning as a new topic Yusef? It is a better way of getting your point across.
|||
Karen, we did visit Aphrodite baths as well and I agree this was very poor as an attraction in itself but at least it was free. However, the best bit about Aphrodite baths is the walk along the Aphrodite nature trail. It takes you along gorgeous sea views which made the trip there well worth it.

This warning is SO true! We got back today after staying in Coral Bay (Lovely), and Sunday just gone, decided to visit the baths and waterfalls as they seemed quite close to us. The signs that say it is suitable for all vehicles re-assured us, till we went to turn off the main road! Looking at the terrain of the land, I think they must mean suitable for all vehicles that resemble tractors or earth moving vehicles....certainly not our car from Economy car hire. Needless to say I had to make do with lying on my back on the beach at Coral Bay instead!
