I promised that on my return from my 3 weeks in Coral Bay I would post some advice on prices. All prices in Euros.
General provisions
Local Supermarket in Coral Bay
6 x 1.5 Ltr Water - 3.70 E
1 Ltr Skimmed Milk - 1.41 E
Orange Squash - 2.82
1 Ltr Orange Juice - 2.05
Clover Butter 250 g - 2.50
Pack of 5 Pitta Bread - 2.20
At Orphanides in Paphos Mall the prices were cheaper and as follows:
Clover Butter 500 g - 2.69 E!!!
6 x 1.5 Ltr Water - 1.76 E
1 Ltr Tomato Juice - 1.37
1 Ltr Orange Juice - 1.69
4 Small Fruit Yoghurts - 1.76
Pack of 5 Pitta Bread - 1.49
We tended to stock up in Orphanides when we went into Paphos because the prices were much cheaper. We went to the Orphanides in the Paphos Mall which just opened back end of July. This can be found if you head to the Debenhams roundabout from the sea and then go straight on as if you are going to join the %26quot;motorway%26quot; and it is on your right (you will have to go up to the motorway roundabout and come back down as it is dual carriageway). Plenty of parking....just remember to take 2 Euros for the trolleys (refundable).
Hope this is of use to people

Hi Minniefiona, thats great, thanks. We are off to Paphos in October. Only our second visit.Last year, I seem to remembe passing a large Carrefour store, near to Paphos, although we didn%26#39;t use it as we were staying in Coral bay.
Do you know if Carrefour is of similar prices to the new Supermarket? Just wondering where to stock up on the first day...we are actually in Paphos this year.
Thanks
Jayne.

Hi
I didn%26#39;t venture to Carrefour but I do know that there is another Orphanides in the middle of Paphos. All the greeks seemed to think that Orphanides was the best for prices and loads of locals were shopping there

Hi, just got back from Coral Bay and I would recommend Papantonios supermarket on the road up to Chlorakas. Head from Coral Bay along the road to Paphos and when you see a bar on the right called Jaspers, turn left up the hill, follow it up and round to the left and you will find a massive supermarket stocking everything under the sun. All the locals shop there and it is a million times cheaper than any of the tiny cramped stores in Coral Bay.

Hi Minniefiona,
Thanks for that. I%26#39;m sure i will probably give both a try!!

Hi - I am going to stay in coral bay in August for 1 week. I have not hired a car. Would it be walkable to Phillipos supermarket in Peyia and papantonios supermarket or should I stick to the ones in Coral Bay ?
|||
hamishandjack,
If you are staying in Coral Bay then the supermarket up in Peyia will be much too far to walk to. However you are in luck as Phillipos have opened a new one one the main road not far from Coral Bay. As long as you arent carrying too much heavy stuff then you will probably be ok walking. Just go early before it gets too hot!!!!!
|||
If the new Phillipos is on the main road from Coral Bay to Paphos you could get the bus back if you have bought a lot of stuff. The bus runs along this road and then right through Coral Bay itself.
|||
The new Phillipos is just past the new mini roundabout ( where you turn left for Coral Bay) on the main road out from Paphos. It is a big 2 storey store and prices were cheaper than the smaller stores/kiosks in Coral Bay. They had a v good range of stock.
|||
Sorry I meant to say the supermarket is actually on the main rd from Paphos to Akamas etc. Its not far past the mini roundabout that goes down to Coral Bay, thats if you are heading west away from Paphos!

Hi,
Off to Coral Bay next week...Do you have any idea of the opening times of the supermarket?
