Went to Protaras back in 1996 loved it - so quiet. But now it appears everywhere is overun with tourists and it%26#39;s all built up. Is anywhere left that is quiet with nice sandy beaches and no nightlife??

Huge changes since 1996! All really geared now to tourism in Protaras. Pernera which is approximately 15 minutes out of Protaras is quieter and more laid back with lovely beaches. There is some night life, good restaurants and regrettably the odd %26quot;tribute act%26quot; but its not in your face so to speak.

Thanks - what about the beaches? Heard Polis is quiet? What%26#39;s that like for quiet and beaches? On here someone gave long review but said the beach could be dangerous?

you could also head a bit further out of protaras than pernera, there are a few hotels further out - the golden coast, crystal springs and kouzalis beach. all are pretty much on the beach (small bays) and apart from one or 2 bars an restaurants its quiet with mainly private villas and some farmers fields around them.
there are a few places west of protaras centre as well towards green bay, not quite as far as cape greco. there%26#39;s a few hotels and apartments in this area - paramount, crysland cove, harrys, mimosa beach, iris, cavo maris etc

Polis is nice but again is geared to the tourist. Beaches pebbly. The best beaches are definitely on the eastern side. Good posting by Cyprusseaview - have a look at the hotels mentioned. The Kouzalis beach is adult only although the reviews aren%26#39;t spectacular and I believe the Crystal Springs is being turned into apartments. The Green Bay area is nice and anywhere heading towards Cape Greko.

when looking for places - what resort should I be googling?? Thanks!

Try agrotourism in Cyprus. You can stay in authentic little villages away from the razamataz of tourism!
