Hi there
My partner and I are going to stay in my friend’s apartment in Geroskipou in November/December. Can anyone tell me what this area is like? What tavernas etc to eat out in and is Paphos within easy or difficult walking distance? How much will a taxi be from Paphos to this area? Any other information you%26#39;s can think of will be greatly appreciated

Hi - I%26#39;ve already replied on this subject on your previous post, but if I can help further just let me know. A lot of locals and people working in Paphos live in Geroskipou so you will probably find that the tavernas will serve authentic Cypriot food rather than the tourist stuff, which most people appreciate. It won%26#39;t be more than a few minutes in a taxi but I%26#39;m not sure of the prices as they have shot up in the last couple of years. Do a bit of haggling the first time you use one and if you are satisfied, use the same driver each time you need one - this proves the best method of keeping the price reasonable. By the way, you are pretty close to the water park if you like that kind of thing.

Hi Tiger,
There is a taverna at the end of Geroskipou next to the main road leading the Paphos airport (or rather Koloni area of Geroskipou) It%26#39;s called Costas I believe and is opposite the Savvas Pottery.
If you want to take a taxi, just ask him to take you to the Savvas Pottery, get out and cross the road to get to the taverna. You can easily walk back to yoru apartment afterwards.

Thanks for your comments. Westdownlover you have reassured me, I had looked at pictures around my apartment (Aphrodite, not to be mixed up with Aphrodite Hills) and wasnt sure if it was going to be ok. But I am really looking forward to the authentic cypriot tavernas etc. good to know about the taxi%26#39;s too

Hope you have a good time and get brilliant sunshine; that might have something to do with the fact that we%26#39;re going for a month too - November into December, so if you get good weather we will too !!!

It takes about 20 mins walking downhill from the village to the beach and the bus terminus from where you can get to the harbour or upto Tomb of the Kings Road or the Market. If you prefer to walk along the beach path or the road from the bus terminus it will be approx another 30 mins to the harbour. Bus costs just over a euro. If you walk you can have a look in the other hotels and you%26#39;ll pass plenty of bars and restaurants. If you stay around the harbour until late you%26#39;ll obviously need a taxi going back as it is not only uphill but it will be a dark lonely road as well.

Hi Tiger
Its a nice rural area of Paphos which over the years has merged into the town. The main road from Limassol to Paphos used to run through there but is now by passed so it is much quieter. I have driven that way many times (and at all hours) and there are numerous tavernas around.
Also Geroskipou is where they make the Cyprus Delights (turkish delight). I personally can%26#39;t stand it but I know a lot of people like it. Its the kind of place where you still see all the men sat outside the coffee shop playing backgammon. I%26#39;m sure you will have a really nice time.
Fiona
