currency exchange

Will I get a better deal on my money ir I bring UK sterling and exchange in kyrenia, or should I bring Turkish Lira?

If it is better to bring sterling can anyone recommend a good place to go to exchange in Kyrenia?

Many Thanks

Better to take a small amount of sterling and change it once you are in Kyrenia. We were out there last week and got a better exchange rate than in the UK.

You can change currency at banks or we changed some in our local supermarket. You can also pay for a lot of things in sterling.

You get a much better rate of exchange when you are there and ther are several Bureau De changes in Kyrenia where the rates are roughly the same in all of them,

Also I forgot to mention, they don,t charge you any commision.

Lanzafan: %26quot;better bring a small amount of sterling %26amp; change it (in Kyrenia)%26quot;.

We%26#39;re going over for 2 weeks within next fortnight for first visit. Have to hire car, pay for all meals, boat trips etc.etc. How much is %26quot;a small amount?%26quot; Would you advise we carry sterling notes or travellers cheques, or both? Bureaux des Changes: do they accept tr.cheques as well as notes? Urgent reply/replies, please. Thanks.

In answer to your question.Yes they do take travellers cheques as well as sterling, but the rate for them is very slightly lower.

When we go we usually take about £200 in Turkish Lira to last the first few days and then change the rest up in Kyrenia. We always take sterling that can readily be used to pay things you mentioned like car hire, meals out etc.

Hope you enjoy your holiday, anything else you need to know please ask.

Change GBP to TRY in any currency exchange. They are all close to each other in Kyrenia, I was getting 2.45 lira to £; prices are so reasonable that a small tip (5lira)= £2 approx, is well appreciated in restaurants etc..

This year I have found the exchange rate for Sterling much better than for Euro in Northern Cyprus. And much, much better in Egypt!

As has been said, about 2.4TYL to the £ (unchanged since Easter and I was there yesterday).

Thanks to both of you in msgs 7 %26amp; 8. Will find out soon enough - will be in Kyrenia from early next week.
