Comment on Paphos

We recently visited Paphos and were not impressed. OK so we live in Hawaii and we%26#39;re biased - there%26#39;s no comparison between the two.

We were most alarmed by the massive over development in the area. You can%26#39;t escape the noise and eyesore of new construction. It%26#39;s all rather depressing. It%26#39;s like the soul has been sucked out of the land.

Kings Tomb area felt seedy, harbor more appealing.

But would never visit there again.

At least you can escape to the mountains and find a more authentic Cyprus.

And what%26#39;s up with the no toilet paper in the toilet. Expect this in Inda but not in modern Europe. And you%26#39;re just supposed to chuck it in an outside dumpster? Not very sanitary.

My wife and I went to Cyprus last year for the first time and stayed in Paphos. We were very disappointed and couldn%26#39;t understand what all the fuss was about Cyprus. We then hired a car, we now understand why so many people love Cyprus, get out and about and discover!!

We are coming back 28th October for our 4th visit in 14 months.

Hawaii is also rather built up, take Oahu for instance, the south and east coasts are so incredibly built up and Hawaiian culture has all but obliterated. All that remains are Luaus for tourists. The building developments that take place in Maui are also not good. There is constant building of condos all over the place (eg Kapalua). The traffic on all the islands is quite bad. Unfortunately few places are perfect or immune from overdevelopment, Hawaii (sadly) included.
