We%26#39;ve never been to Cyrpus but, have been offered either a villa near to pissori or an apartment near to Larnaca for the last 2 weeks in October, approx.
We%26#39;re not sure what the weather will be like at that time of year, which is the best/cheapest airport to fly to (and which airline to use), whether we will need a hire car and whether the local shops/restaurnats etc will still be open?
Any asistance would be greately appreciated.

Weather is usually good in October, but you can get the odd storm at this time of year. The sea is still warm, pools a bit cold.
You would definately need a hire car in Pissouri, with Larnaca it would depend on the location.
Tourist areas in the east (Ayia napa, Protaras) tend to shut down more or less at the end of October. Paphos and Larnaca are not just tourist resorts and many places are open all year. Pissouri bay area would be open till the end October with the village area being open all year.
We recently booked flights from Gatwick to Larnaca with Thomson for October, prices not too bad, although you might clash with half term which would mean higher prices. We generally find flights into Larnaca a bit cheaper than Paphos - try Monarch, Thomson, Easyjet, Cyprus Airways.

You should be fine with the weather in October. Although the weather has been a bit odd in Cyprus this year. We usually go to Cyprus the same two weeks in September every year and have never had rain before. This year we landed at Paphos airport to grey sky and later that evening the heavens opened and it rained really heavily. There was a bit of cloud around for all of our first week but also lots of sunshine. Last Sunday we went to a friend%26#39;s house on the road that leads to Troodos and although it came over cloudy and one or two large spots of rain fell it soon blew over and didn%26#39;t really rain but when we got back to Limassol they had had quite a bit of rain. We know people who go to Paphos and Limassol for half term at the end of October and usually have good weather but as you can see it is a bit different this year. Having said that by the time we left yesterday it was back to normal and very hot with clear blue sky. I read in the Cyprus Newspaper that they have already had more rainfall this year in 9 months than is usual for a whole year. Hopefully it will settle down but you are almost guaranteed to have some good weather.
It depends what you are looking for but if it was my choice I would go for the villa near Pissouri but as has been said you would need a hire car there.

Pissouri is about 30 minutes from Paphos airport and 90 minutes from Larnaca airport - so you may want to leave booking your flight until you have decided where to stay.
Pissouri village still has much of its old charm and is a very different place to stay than Larnaca - it is a small village and there is also the bay area.
You would definitely need a car to stay there.
Take a look at this link for information on the village and bay area.
