We are going to cyprus early october and want to hire a car and see a bit of the island can anyone recomend a good place to stay? We would like somewhere near a beach and a few restaurants, a pretty area.

Limassol is a good base for touring the Island. I wouldn%26#39;t say it was pretty though. We stay at the Four Seasons every year and this year we also stayed at the Mediterranean Beach next door. These hotels are on their own bit of beach in a reasonably quiet area with just a few restaurants around. In Paphos we stay at the Amathus Beach hotel which is a ten minute walk from the harbour but again is in an area with a few nice restaurants. You may prefer to stay somewhere like Polis or Pissouri. I would just keep reading the forum and the reviews I am sure someone will come up with something that you like the sound of. If you are hiring a car you will really enjoy Cyprus it is a beautiful Island but you need to get away from the resorts to see the real Cyprus.

Thanks for the info I will have a look at those hotels. We are going to hire a car for the week and do plan to go out and about and hopefully see the real cyprus! I will look at limmasol as it would proberly be best to be in a central place for touring. thanks again

I went toPernera Beach Hotel in Aug ust and I think it would be a good base for you.....It is right next to the beach, it is in a quite small area with just 2 main streets and it is quite central for all regions in Eastern Cyprus.......Check it out, see what you think........There are good walks either side of the hotel{ to do daytime or evenings} and there are only a few bars and restaurants in the main area of the resort........hope this has been helpfull to you.
