just back from Cancun we had to cancel in may due to swine flu, so my wife suggested Cyprus i agreed with a heavy heart as i was sooooooo looking foreward to Cancun. We stayed at Vangellis apps read early review for our views on hotel Anyway we had a fab 2 weeks protaras and must say it was boss.Then we went to Cancun for 2 weeks in August and apart from the fabulous blue water and white sandy beaches, i can honestly say Protaras beats Cancun hands down better nightlife restaurants location the nearest beach to cancuns great beaches is Nissi beach just past aiya nappa i have heard there is one better than Nissi but i forget the name of it. the only prob with Cyprus isit is very expensive, but so was Mexico. all in all Protaras for us.

Its all down to personal choice. I live in Ayia Napa but take my holidays in Cancun.
I love Ayia Napa but could easily pass when it comes to Protaras. But Cancun is in a different league altogether. The nightlife is AMAZING! the clubs are very different to what we have in Ayia Napa and food and shopping is great.
I wouldn%26#39;t like to live in Cancun but for a holiday its brilliant, but Ayia Napa is a nice place to live.

With regardsother beaches.... there%26#39;s a few.
Just beyond Nissi and well signposted is Macronissos Beach (near the Dome Hotel) it%26#39;s my personal favourite and much quieter and cleaner than Nissi IMO. There%26#39;s a small beach just prior to Mac beach called Landa which is nice but is crammed with sunbeds in the summer.
Or heading the other way towards Protaras is Konnos Beach near Cavo Greko.....a lot of steps down to it but well worth it, very peacful and lovely shallow waters.

i stayed in Playacar in Mexico and it was fab, we did a day trip to Cancun and thought the beach was amazing. I have also stayed in the vangelis and am off to Protaras in September 2010, it will be my tenth time, i love the place
